Get to Know: Kombucha On Tap’s Office Team

We are little biased, but we think we have the best team ever! Here’s your chance to get to know some of the people behind Kombucha On Tap (KOT).

How long have you been helping distribute kombucha and cold brew? 

Jared: 4.5 wonderful years

Deanne: for more than 4 years

Sydney:  1 Year

Rod: Since I started at KOT 2 years ago. Woot woot!

Monika: It will be 2 years in August.

Bill: Since late March and love the concept of distributing the wellness! That said, I’ve been drinking kombucha on a regular basis since 2004. My first sip was GT’s Original in Tampa, FL.

If you had to pick a favorite flavor that we offer, what would it be?

Jared: GT’s Passionberry Bliss.  I like the Tartness of it

Deanne: That is tough! Lately, I’ve been loving Kombucha Culture’s Island Roots

Sydney:  It changes every week! Right now I really like GTs Strawberry and Bambucha Blueberry Tart

Rod: for coffee, The Steeping Giant (black), for kombucha, – GT’s Gingerade

Monika – It’s a toss-up between GT’s Watermelon Wonder and Bambucha Kombucha’s Blueberry Tart. 

Bill: Kombucha Culture’s BOHO!!

If you had an extra hour in the day to spend any way you wanted, how would you spend it?

Jared: Running and Mountain Biking (One after the other for a good training session)

Deanne: I’d go to a class at Yoga Oceanside

Sydney: Reading a good book

Rod: I would spend my extra hour reading books on business, philosophy, history, personal development, religions, and rock climbing.

Monika – Outside, doing something active. 

Bill: Yoga in an empty studio!

Where is the last place you went on vacation?

Jared: Big Bear City

Deanne: Hawaii

Sydney: Las Vegas

Rod: I went on a family cruise to the Caribbean back in January 2017 and proposed to my girlfriend of 5 years. We are sealing the deal this August and very excited to do so!

Monika: Colorado

Bill: Sedona, it’s my power spot!

What is your favorite meal?

Jared: Spaghetti squash “alfredo” with chicken and a side of Mixed Vegetables.

Deanne: A salad and Filet Mignon from Ruth Chris Steakhouse

Sydney: Cheeseburger and french fries with a side of ranch.

Rod: Thin Crust pizza from URBN with pepperoni, spinach, bell peppers, and garlic.

Monika: Seafood

Bill: The Legendary Hero Bowl at Eve in Encinitas

Do you have any pets? 

Jared and Deanne: An American Eskimo named Bear

Sydney: 2 dogs

Rod: My fiancé and I have a 4-year-old female dog and her name is Laney. She loves being the center of attention, long walks outdoors, peanut butter in her kong, and anything in our trashcan. 

Monika: A dog

Bill: I used to. I love cats and dogs equally and hope to have them again in my life.

What is your favorite part about working at KOT?

Jared: The great people I get to see on the team every day.  Close second are the client relationships.

Deanne: The people!

Sydney: The great working environment and employee appreciation. I enjoy coming into work every day and that is more than I can ask for!

Rod: My favorite part about working at KOT is that I feel like I am doing exactly what I should be doing with my life at this point in time. 

Monika: The family-oriented atmosphere at KOT and our wonderful customers. 

Bill: Meeting so many different and wonderful people.

What is your least favorite part?

Jared: Clients I need to call for not paying their invoices.

Deanne: When clients don’t pay on time

Sydney: Not enough time in the day to finish everything! ; )

Rod: Parting ways with good people due to the nature of business practices. But this happens at all companies so I chose not to let it bother me. 

Monika: Bill collecting for past due invoices.

What is something about you that others might find surprising?

Jared: I used to be very shy.  I pushed myself out of that in College, there are times I catch myself being shy and give myself a pep talk to snap out of it.

Deanne: I love auditioning for game shows and was on Wheel of Fortune with my brother.

Sydney: I am a huge homebody, I prefer to just hang out and relax rather than go out.

Rod: I spent most of my youth studying music performance, music theory, and music composition. My parents provided me with 10+ years of traditional piano lessons and performances. 

Monika: I love the snow

Bill:  I once worked in a life-saving movement in placing desperate opiate addicts in treatment facilities in both Canada and Mexico for the purpose of detoxification with natural medicines. 

What charity or cause are you passionate about supporting and why?

Jared: Special Olympics; Seeing these kids and adults happy and free-spirited no matter their challenge keeps in my forefront I don’t have any excuse to why I can’t achieve my goals.

Deanne: I support as many charities as possible and I do videos that give back to deserving people and causes.

Sydney: The Humane Society

Rod: I support youth wrestling programs. Youth wrestling programs are all about helping our youth recognize their potential to manifest as much good in the world as they can manage; through facing adversity, taking on responsibility, and growing a deep sense of spiritual character.

Monika: Anything that involves helping children. 

Bill: The homeless crisis in our country breaks my heart and I wish I could provide an instant solution with the wave of a magic wand!

Before you started working at KOT, what were you doing?

Jared: Videographer/ Online Content Manager – Outdoor Channel

Deanne: Journalist

Sydney: I was an escrow assistant at a Title company.

Rod: Before I started working at KOT, I was a IT specialist, and safety manager for a small electrical company, while I was completing an Associate Degree in Business Management at Mira Costa College. I was also DJ’ing weddings, private parties, and in clubs around the San Diego area for extra income. I would also volunteer my time at Vista High School as a wrestling coach. 

Monika: I worked at an organization that provides respite care for adults and children with special needs and disabilities. 

Bill: I was working in addiction treatment as an Intake and Outreach Director. 

Have you eve binge-watched a tv series and if so which one?

Jared: Have not

Deanne: All the time! The last one I watched was season one of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Sydney: Too Many! I think the last one was Stranger Things

Rod: Oh yes, my fiancé and I most recently binged over a “Docu-series” on Netflix called Wild Wild Country. You should definitely check it out!

Monika: This is Us

One of the last movies you saw in the theaters?

Jared and Deanne: Deadpool 2

Sydney: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Rod: Star Wars – The Last Jedi

Monika: I Can Only Imagine

Bill: A Russian film called Loveless.

The last concert you went to?

Jared: Scott Bradlee Loves You at “The Belly Up.”

Deanne: Frankie Valle (I’m obsessed with Oldies)

Sydney: Lady Gaga

Rod: Bonobo Live at the Observatory in North Park back in January. 

Monika: Bon Jovi

Anything else you want people who are reading to know about you?  

Jared: I always want to help people achieve their maximum potential.

Deanne: I drink kombucha on tap every single day. My first order of business when we started our company was installing it on tap at our home.

Sydney: I love to be around people who make me laugh.

Monika: I love traveling… 😀
