The KOT Backstory
In August 2013 Jared and Deanne were dating. Jared had a work trip to Bend, Oregon. Deanne came with him since she used to be a news anchor there and wanted to see old friends. While in Bend, they saw kombucha on tap everywhere! At the time Jared didn’t even know what kombucha was. Deanne was a huge fan but had only seen it in bottles.
After much research, they realized no one was distributing kegs of kombucha on tap in Southern California. Jared wanted to start his own company and do something that fits his healthy, active lifestyle. Deanne just wanted everyone to experience the drink she was obsessed with. In 2014 Jared and Deanne launched Kombucha On Tap (KOT), the company is actually older than their marriage which took place the same year.
Kombucha On Tap has grown to include an amazing team of hardworking, positive, healthy-minded individuals. The company also expanded its offerings to include cold brew coffee on tap and more. The company’s motto is “we drink on the job” and one of the core values is “people over profits.” Kombucha On Tap is also committed to giving back to the community in partnership with Kombucha Cares.
In 2018 and 2019, the San Diego Business Journal named Kombucha On Tap among the Top 100 Fastest Private Growing Companies in San Diego! CEO Jared Gustafson is also world-renowned as one of the leading draft experts in the kombucha space.
