Kombucha Dyed Deviled Easter Eggs

Posted on 11th April, 2017

Forget the artificial food dye, make this year's Easter Eggs a topic of conversation at your Easter celebration by using organic all-natural kombucha as dye!

Health-Ade Beet can turn ordinary deviled eggs into the most beautiful bright fuchsia-colored ones, plus it's an all-natural dye! Afterward, you can even drink the kombucha the egg has been dyed in. Being non-alcoholic the kids can drink the kombucha too.

"I love deviled eggs and discovered that using kombucha to dye the eggs first made them so pretty! I can have these ready to go in minutes to take to a party. I like to think it's a probiotic deviled egg," explained Deanne Gustafson, co-founder of KEGJOY™.

To make simply hard boil eggs. Take off the shells and cut lengthwise. Put the yolks in a bowl. Rinse the hard-boiled egg halves in water, then submerge them in bowls of Health-Ade beet kombucha. This flavor is available at most Whole Foods stores.

After 10-15 minutes the eggs will be dyed. Leave in longer if you'd like an even brighter color. While the eggs are dying, mix the yolks with your favorite deviled egg ingredients. we used a little vegan mayo, mustard, Chipotle Bitchin Sauce, and cotija cheese crumbles.

Take the dyed eggs out of the bowls of kombucha and set on a plate. Simply scoop the deviled egg mix into each half. Then top with a cilantro leaf. Easy, simple, and delicious and pretty in pink! Don't forget you can even drink the leftover kombucha too that you used to dye the eggs!
