Posted on 1st May, 2023

Kombucha is a delicious and healthy beverage that is enjoyed by millions of people around the world. If you're a fan of kombucha and want to take your love for it to the next level, you may be interested in setting up your own KEGJOY™ at home. Not only is this a fun and rewarding project, but it also allows you to enjoy your favorite beverage in a more convenient and cost-effective way.

Step 1: Choose Your Equipment

The first step in setting up KEGJOY™ at home is to choose your equipment. You'll need a few basic things to get started, including a kegerator, a keg coupler, and a CO2 tank:

  • You can purchase these items from KEGJOY™ within Southern California, or if you are outside of SoCal, a local homebrew supply store or online.
  • We recommend the Kegco Single or Double Tap Kegerator, which includes an empty 5 lb. aluminum co2 tank, a dual gauge regulator, and ball lock keg couplers.
  • Here is a video on how to set it up once it arrives.

Step 2: Purchase or Prepare Your Kombucha

In Southern California, KEGJOY™ offers a one-stop shop for kegs of kombucha in a variety of brands and flavors. Or if you would prefer to make your own kombucha, you will need to:

  • Brew a batch of kombucha using your favorite recipe and then transfer it to an empty keg.
  • Purchase CO2 for your tank at a local gas supplier, welding shops can usually help.

Step 3: Connecting the CO2

To get the kombucha to pour from a kegerator, you'll need to connect the CO2 tank to the keg and adjust the pressure to the desired level. To connect the CO2 tank, first make sure that the tank is securely fastened and upright. Then, attach the regulator to the CO2 tank valve by screwing it on tightly. Once the regulator is in place, connect the gas line to the regulator's barb fitting and the other end of the gas line to the keg coupler. Adjust the pressure on the regulator to the desired level for carbonating the kombucha. With the CO2 properly connected, you'll be able to enjoy a perfectly carbonated and delicious glass of KEGJOY™.

If you are pouring two products on your kegerator, for instance a beer and a kombucha, you will want this regulator.

Step 4: Attach the Coupler, Enjoy!

Make sure your kegerator is plugged into a wall outlet and the kegs are cold. Then, attach the coupler to the keg by aligning the coupler's tabs with the slots on the keg valve and twisting the coupler clockwise until it is snug in place:

Step 5: Enjoy Your KEGJOY™

Now you are ready to pour yourself a glass and savor the delicious taste and health benefits of KEGJOY™ at home! Cheers to you!
